IF YOU ARE DOING A TASTING, THERE IS NO RIGHT WAY OR WRONG WAY TO TASTE WHISKEY, BUT THERE ARE WAYS TO MAKE IT MORE ENJOYABLE.

AROMA
Around 75% of what we sense as taste really comes from the smell. Make sure you swirl your glass in order to release the aroma of the whiskey. Put your nose directly on the rim and take some good short sniffs but keep your mouth slightly open. Don’t inhale too deeply, this could make you become temporarily “odor blind”, distorting your senses for the tasting that follows.
TASTE
The best way to drink whiskey is the way you like it. Determine if you need to dilute the whiskey. If you need to dilute, do so with a few drops of water at a time. This will avoid losing too much flavor. Taste it by holding it in your mouth and let it be exposed to the different areas of your tongue. Take notes of the body, texture and feel you have in your mouth.
